Last Day and the Best View

Our flight left JFK at 9:45, so the hotel gave us a semi-late checkout of 1pm. We decided to get up early and go up Rockefeller, and then hit the Sony museum we had seen.

It was a beautiful day and no lines at Rockefeller. And wow…the view! We loved it here MUCH more than the Empire State building as you could go up to a very top level where you had an unobstructed view, no cages or glass. It was spectacular!! (but very cold and windy!!)

I like this one:

We left there and went next door to Magnolia’s Bakery to try these famous cupcakes. Well, they weren’t worth it in our minds. WE all agreed that my own cupcakes were intensly better than these ones. I also bought a slice of white cake with buttercream frosting for later. heh heh.

We took some photos of Rockefeller Center, and then Kelsey bought some more fruit from this nice man who seemed enamored with her ‘Canadian” accent.

We walked around some, and into Saks so I could take a photo. Jorden turned around and bumped into a lady who was so put out by that that she had to shake her head intensly, go “tsk tsk tsk” and storm away in a big “harumph!” swinging her floor length fur coat. Oh bejeezus! Hey lady, you DO know you are shopping in NEW YORK CITY during THE HOLIDAYS in a DEPARTMENT STORE! Chances are you’re going to get bumped into. And he apologized immediately, so there was no reason for her to make him feel ashamed like that. I was so pissed off about it, I just had to get out of that store. I just have no space in my life or my brain for uptight pretentious snobs.

We made our way to the Sony place, on the way I saw this great building:

and this little gem:

and some more great architecture:

The first police station we have seen:

And the Waldorf-Astoria, and that’s just fun to say:

The sony place was a big waste of time, don’t even ever bother going there.

We left there, and came across these Hello Kitties…Kelsey was in heaven!

We made our way back to times square:

and checked our baggage in with the bellhop. We then went to see the movie Seven Pounds. I hadn’t known what it was about, and I greatly regretted seeing it at the end as it put me in a real sad funk given that I was busy trying to forget about my mom’s suicide last Christmas.

We went straight from the movie to our bags and the airport. Soon enough it was time to board. Again, great airline…great food:

great entertaiment:

and I loved that you didn’t have to have your whole meal tray down just to have a drink cup!

It was a great trip and New York is absolutely fabulous. I loved the business, the noise, the food, everything about it. New York and I are soul mates.
